Johnny Morant (b.1982) is a London based artist working predominantly in oils to communicate the surrounding environment as seen through his eyes. Born in Hong Kong, Morant came to England at a young age and grew up in rural parts of the South West. After attending art school in Bristol he arrived in London where his new surroundings had a strong impact on his work. In this new urban setting Morant steadily made a name for himself as an accomplished painter of the built environment. A fascination with light and tone is demonstrated in each exciting work. Morant paints with confident and fluid application, allowing the characteristics of the paint to complement his brushwork. He takes great pleasure building scenes of intense light and glistening reflections. With two successful solo exhibitions at the Tryon Gallery and numerous group shows to his name, Morant continues to attract the attention of discerning collectors and avid followers. Over recent years he has consistently shown with the New English Art Club and the Royal institute of Oil Painters. He has been shortlisted for several prizes and has received the Green & Stone Prize For Best Oil Painting at the Chelsea Art Society Annual Exhibition.
